Based upon anecdotal evidence and some LA Times articles, apparently Friday March 13 constituted moronic convergence for grocery store hoarders due to the coronavirus crisis. We did our regular weekly grocery shopping on Thursday the day before. On Thursday the paper product aisle was only 80% empty. Low cost and high unit paper product packages were gone, leaving more expensive small unit packages. The number of people in the grocery store on Thursday was normal. Apparently large crowds appeared on Friday and scarfed up all remaining paper products. However, the major unreported crisis is the disappearance of Chef Boyardee Beefaroni. I was forced to substitute spaghetti and meatballs. Next time Beefaroni is in stock, I will buy all units before the hoarders get there. Somewhere someone has built a fortress out of power towels and toilet paper containing stockpiles of Cabbage Patch Kids, Beanie Babies, Pokémon Cards, and Chef Boyardee Beefaroni. (cbad0857a)
