The Chinatown Los Angeles Central Plaza was dedicated on June 25, 1938. Chinatown Los Angeles is the first modern American Chinatown, owned and planned from the ground up by Chinese. Central Plaza would provided a magnificent hub of growth for the vibrant Chinese American community. The current Chinatown Los Angeles replaces the original Chinatown Los Angeles built in the early 1900s, which was razed in order to build
Los Angeles Union Station.
